Alex the Parrot passed away last week of natural causes at the age of 31. An African Grey Parrot, Alex will be best remembered by most of us as the talented bird with an English vocabulary of over 100 - 150 words, who appeared on many a television program. He was pet and colleague at Brandeis and Harvard Universities, and the subject of many scientific articles. Alex the Parrot gave insight into the world of animal - and human - communications.
Alex the Parrot is survived by his loving "Mom," Psychologist Dr. Irene Pepperberg, and many friends and fans.
